A color photograph of a book divider on the macassar ebony shelf in J. Irwin Miller's Irwin Management Company office at 301 Washington Street, designated Area 43 in drawings. Alexander Girard's design for the floating shelf includes teflon-lined holes in the surface for the pegs of the book divider to slot into. Girard designed the office suite for J. Irwin Miller in the early 1960s, then renovated the entire building complex in the early 1970s.

The title block names the blueline drawing "Store Fronts Columbus, Indiana," while a handwritten title on the outside of the folded drawing labels it "Drawing showing color areas." Numbers indicate individual color areas in Girard's color scheme design, which are further indicated with swatches of colored pencil. Pencil annotations mark completed areas.
