Curatorial note: In a letter to library director Gerald M. Born in February 1966, Carruthers writes that he is enclosing a reproduction of a sketch of the library plaza to show “the relation of the steps and the plaza to the Irwin Home and how the steps focus upon the Library entrance.” Although that letter no longer has a drawing associated with it, we believe this drawing (which is part of the Kenneth D.B.
