Dedication of Cleo Rogers Memorial Library (sound recording)

A 57-minute sound recording of the dedication of the Cleo Rogers Memorial Library and Large Arch. The recording documents the dedication of the Bartholomew County Library, which was named in honor of long-term librarian, Cleo Rogers (1906-1964). The library was designed by architect I. M. (Ieoh Ming) Pei (1917-2019) and his firm, I. M. Pei & Partners. The project architect overseeing design and production was Kenneth D.B. (David Bertram) Carruthers (1928-2014). The ceremony also included the dedication of Large Arch, the sculpture on the plaza constructed by Henry Moore (1898-1986). There were several speeches throughout the ceremony from those involved in the project and notable members of the community, including I. M. Pei; Carl J. Weinhardt, Jr. (1927-1986), the director of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at that time; State Representative and Columbus native, William Calvert Brand (1918-2005); and Columbus Mayor, Eret H. Kline (1907-1987).
